Assists in maintaining and enforcing procedures and regulations to ensure security is maintained at the jail and satellite facilities. An Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Deputy II performs as a lead worker in Corrections or Court Services/Satellite Division. If assigned to Law Enforcement Services performs various law enforcement duties, depending on the divisional assignment, as described below. An Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Recruit is hired in anticipation to attend or currently attending the Police Academy and learning laws and skills regarding various law enforcement duties. Deputy Recruits will learn how to prevent crime, protect life and property, enforce laws, preserve peace, render aid, write effective reports, issue citations and make criminal arrests. Utilizes current countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
Under limited supervision, performs law enforcement functions within the jurisdiction of the Oakland County, including Parks System. Investigates and reports to supervisor accidents, complaints, and other incidents. Responds to disturbances and maintains order. Rides a horse to patrol park paths and trails, as well as other areas that cannot be accessible by other forms of transportation to enforce park rules and regulations. Apprehends disorderly persons.
