General Summary

Are you passionate about designing and maintaining powerful, secure, and innovative technology systems? Join Oakland County’s dynamic IT team, where you’ll play a key role in shaping and supporting the enterprise systems that power County operations, as well as those of partnering cities, villages, townships, and external agencies.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan, design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level systems with a focus on scalability, performance, security, and automation.
  • Participate in research and development projects, executing proofs of concept and contributing to forward-thinking technology solutions.
  • Manage and resolve system incidents, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Perform system administration tasks and maintain detailed technical documentation.
  • Use the latest Countywide and department-specific software tools to complete assignments efficiently.

Required Minimum Qualifications

What You'll Need: 

 

1. a. Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major
in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
 
b. Have had at least five (5) years of full-time work experience in one or more of the following areas: Server administration applied to Servers using Microsoft Windows Operating System, server virtualization, and/or server hardware platforms, Software implementation and maintenance using Microsoft or virtualization products and technologies, storage administration, Microsoft Active Directory administration and/or Information Security; OR
 
2. a. Possess an Associate’s degree or equivalent education from an accredited college or university in any major.
 
b. Have had at least seven (7) years of full-time work experience as specified in "1.b." above: OR
 
3. a. Have had at least ten (10) years of full-time work experience as specified in “1.b.”
 
NOTE: Possession of the following training certificates will each substitute for six (6) months of the required experience:
 
a. Windows Server Hybrid
b. AWS Solutions Architect Associate
c. VMware Certified Professional
