General Summary

Are you ready to take on a leadership role protecting Oakland County from risk and ensuring compliance across complex programs and operations? In this pivotal position, you’ll advise senior County leadership, lead countywide compliance programs, and help shape the policies and practices that keep Oakland County safe, compliant, and resilient.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and advise County departments and the County Executive team on key Risk Management programs to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Oversee vendor and contractor compliance for more than 2,000 partners, ensuring alignment with County standards.
  • Conduct internal and external audits, investigations, and policy reviews, preparing detailed reports and recommendations for leadership action.
  • Research, draft, and edit Risk Management policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Serve as the lead investigator for matters referred by the County Executive or other County entities.
  • Manage the County’s HIPAA compliance and auditing program, including coordination with external auditors and development of remediation plans.
  • Coordinate ADA compliance as the federally designated ADA Coordinator.
  • Respond to FOIA and subpoena requests, ensuring timely and accurate information gathering.
  • Support Countywide Business Continuity Planning and serve on the Behavioral Threat Assessment Management (BTAM) team, conducting investigations as needed.
  • Utilize Countywide and department-specific systems to complete and document all compliance work.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possess a Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with a preferred major in Accounting, Human Resources, Social Sciences, Psychology, Public Policy and Administration, Law, Business Administration or closely related field.
  2.  
     At least six (6) years of full-time work experience in fields of public policy administration, risk management, forensic accounting, internal investigations, regulatory/legal compliance, or human resources.
