General Summary

Do you enjoy clerical work that combines accuracy, customer service, and attention to detail? As a Real Estate Recording Clerk with the Oakland County Register of Deeds, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of public property records. From processing real estate documents to assisting residents, title companies, and other agencies, your work ensures that transactions are handled correctly and efficiently. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced office environment while serving the community with professionalism and care.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Review, verify, and process a wide variety of real estate documents for recording.
  • Assist the public, title companies, and other stakeholders with real estate transactions and related inquiries.
  • Calculate redemption amounts for Sheriff or Clerk deeds, document actions, and process deed redemptions.
  • Support other units within the Register of Deeds Division as needed to maintain smooth operations.

Required Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicants must:

  1. Be a high school graduate OR have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development Test.
  2. Have had at least two (2) years of responsible full-time clerical experience, one (1) of which included processing court documents or real estate documents.
  3. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for the class of Real Estate Recording Clerk.
  4. Successfully complete the six month probationary period.
