General Summary

Do you want to help bridge the gap between public health programs and the people who need them most? As part of the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD), you’ll promote public health initiatives, ensure equitable access to essential services, and work directly with diverse populations. This role focuses on addressing health inequities, strengthening community connections, and linking residents with the resources that support their well-being.

By building strong relationships with community stakeholders and using the County’s technology tools, you’ll help ensure OCHD programs and services effectively reach the people who need them most.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Build strong partnerships with community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and other key stakeholders to advance public health initiatives.
  • Participate in educational workshops and community events that promote wellness and connect residents to vital resources.
  • Focus outreach efforts on underserved populations, including seniors, homebound residents, low-income families, immigrants, and those with limited healthcare access, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to live a healthier life.
  • Encourage participation in public health programs, provide referrals to community partner agencies, and follow up to ensure successful access to care and services.
  • Deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate services, adapting communication to meet the needs of each community.
  • Engage directly with individuals and families, addressing concerns, sharing evidence-based information, and building trust while countering misinformation.
  • Keep accurate records of outreach, educational activities, and community engagement to measure impact and support future initiatives.

Required Minimum Qualifications

What You'll Need: 

 

1. Be a high school graduate OR have a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) Test.


2. Have at least one (1) year of experience with community outreach/field work in a health care setting or supporting community outreach.

Special Requirements

1. Employees of this classification must submit to immunizations as required by the Health Division and submit to a tuberculin skin test or chest x-ray, at County expense, once a year.

Pay Range

USD $45,511.00 - USD $60,976.00 /Yr.
