General Summary

In this role, you’ll take the lead in configuring, maintaining, and supporting Oakland County’s Financial Management System to ensure our financial reporting remains accurate, efficient, and fully compliant with public sector standards. You'll serve as the go-to expert for the County’s financial modules supporting fund accounting, budget controls, grant management, and regulatory reporting.

 

From managing financial modules like General Ledger, Budgets, Grants, and A/P & A/R to maintaining key data structures (like our chart of accounts and cost centers), your work will directly support the County’s financial health and transparency. You’ll also develop standard and custom reports, support audits, oversee system updates, and champion ongoing process improvements.

What you’ll do:

  • Take the lead in managing and optimizing Oakland County’s Financial Management System, ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, efficient, and aligned with public sector standards.
  • Be the go-to expert on our financial system, supporting key functions like fund accounting, budgeting, grant management, and compliance reporting.
  • Work side-by-side with teams in Finance, Budget, Grants Management, and IT to make sure our system meets both operational needs and regulatory requirements, including GASB, GAAP, and federal/state grant guidelines.
  • Oversee financial modules such as General Ledger, Budgets, Grants, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and Reporting, keeping everything running smoothly and securely.
  • Maintain critical financial data structures, including our chart of accounts, funds, cost centers, and programs.
  • Create meaningful reports using built-in reporting tools, helping leadership make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Support system users, coordinate audit preparation, and champion ongoing improvements to our financial processes.

Required Minimum Qualifications

What you'll need:

 

1. Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Public Administration or related field of study.

 

2. Have had five (5) years of full-time work experience in system administration within an ERP system including one or more of the following areas: reporting, maintenance, testing, inventory control, migrations, security, configurations, and implementation.

Pay Range

USD $81,732.00 - USD $109,505.00 /Yr.
