General Summary

Are you a recent law school graduate eager to begin your legal career in public service? As a Prosecutor Trainee with the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, you’ll gain invaluable, real-world courtroom experience while working under the supervision of seasoned attorneys. In this training role, you’ll interview law enforcement personnel, evaluate warrant requests, conduct legal research, and begin presenting routine cases in District Court, all while preparing for the Michigan Bar Examination. This position is designed to build the foundation for a meaningful career in prosecution and public service.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Interview complainants and law enforcement personnel to determine the appropriateness of issuing criminal charges.
  • Prepare accurate and thorough warrants, and respond to inquiries about filing complaints.
  • Conduct legal research and assist with case preparation under the guidance of experienced prosecutors.
  • Present routine cases in District Court, gaining courtroom experience while learning court procedures and protocols.
