General Summary

Performs duties associated with the custody and care of animals brought to the County animal shelter by providing food and water, cleaning and disinfecting cages, moving animals to the proper detaining area, and maintaining and cleaning shelter equipment. Assists the veterinary staff when needed. Shift assignments include weekend and holiday work and relief work on various shifts. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Required Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicants must:

  1. Be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate; OR have completed the State requirements for a G.E.D. certification.
  2. Pass the complete examination including the employment medical established for the classification.
  3. Successfully complete the six month probationary period.
