Manages and coordinates Risk programs related to threat management and asset protection. Responsible for all aspects of planning, executing and managing executive protection (EPU) operations. Manages junior and other EPU team members and coordinates assignments. Provides analysis of potential threats and vulnerabilities, including general global and local threat conditions; develops plans to mitigate threats. Works closely with executive office personnel to coordinate EPU operations. Serves as a member of the EPU team. Provides investigative and related support to Risk and other County Departments to facilitate the County's decision on behavioral threats, loss control investigations and other matters. Serves as a Risk Management representative to the Behavioral Threat Assessment Management team; provides investigative and/or administrative operations support. Serves as the building emergency coordinator for the Executive Office Building (EOB) responsible for training and coordinating volunteer employee participants. Works closely with Building Safety and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office to coordinate security of the EOB. Serves as the Risk Management liaison to the County’s business continuity planning (BCORP) team; makes recommendations to the Risk Manager regarding BCORP planning and compliance. Researches, investigates and drafts policies and procedures of best practices on relevant activities. Prepares and submits written and verbal reports on the above projects and responsibilities. Utilizes current countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
1. Possess an associate’s degree or equivalent education from an accredited college or university with a major in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Law Enforcement or closely related field.
2. Have had at least four (4) years of full-time experience as a criminal or other investigator, Executive Protection, security/asset protection, or police professional, or other closely related field.
3. Possess a valid motor vehicle or chauffeur's license with satisfactory driving record.
4. Have not been convicted of a violation of criminal law.
5. Able to legally possess/carry firearm; must obtain Concealed Pistol License within 90 days of hire.
6. Must successfully complete professional EPU training within 180 days of hire, or as soon as practicable.
7. Must successfully complete firearms training within 180 days of hire.
8. Must complete advanced Behavioral Threat Assessment training within 180 days of hire or as soon as practicable.
