Announcement Information

This is a part-time non-eligible position limited to 1,000 hours per year. 

This part time position will support the full time Parks Painter working on various painting projects. 

General Summary

Provides assistance to higher level maintenance personnel that are performing rough and finish carpentry, electrical work, painting, and plumbing, and assists as required in the development, maintenance and repair of park facilities, grounds, and buildings. Tears out walls, partitions, pipes, and related structures for building alterations. Installs and maintains miscellaneous park fixtures, including fences, signs, park furniture, and swimming, fishing, and boating docks. Prepares work sites for higher level maintenance personnel by erecting and dismantling scaffolding, excavation boxes, and guy wires; tearing out walls, partitions, pipes, and related structures for building alterations; preparing various building surfaces by washing, sanding, and scraping. Using hand tools, digs and/or fills trenches, grades earth and repairs roads, drives and parking lots. Assists in setting forms and unloads, mixes, pours, and spreads concrete.

Required Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicants must:

  1. Be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate; OR have completed the state requirement for a G.E.D. certificate; OR be an emancipated minor; OR have passed their 18th birthday;

  2. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.

  3. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this classification.

Special Requirements

  1. Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur’s license.
  2. When assigned to Mobile Recreation and operate certain vehicles are required to maintain a United States Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Group "A" and “P” designation with air brakes endorsement.

Pay Range

USD $19.69 - USD $25.65 /Hr.
