General Summary

Under general supervision, employees of this class provide technical services and engineering support duties. Employees verify and provide technical project and/or property easement references, perform fieldwork, and use specialized software including, but not limited to, engineering, database, project management, mapping and photo/video editing. Employees of this experienced level class perform a variety of duties, including regular meetings with County and non-County personnel, assisting higher level engineering staff, and resolving reported field problems. Mathematical and logical thinking skills are used regularly. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments. Duties generally fall under one of the two categories listed below:WHEN ASSIGNED COMPUTER APPLICATIONS, ENGINEERING AND FIELD SUPPORT, AND/OR PROJECT COORDINATION ACTIVITIES:Uses computer applications to enter and search information, creating interactive reports and forms for one or a group of networked users. Duties include the use of technical devices and software such as digital cameras, video editing, project management applications, Power Point software, image scanners, and/or department file back-up equipment. Updates database information, spreadsheets, reports, and other documents using data obtained or provided. Enters and prints information from various data systems and applications. Provides technical direction and support to department personnel. May perform a variety of other engineering and field support activities or a specific function on a full-time basis. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development Test.
  2. Have had at least three (3) years of full-time work experience performing mapping, engineering, community planning, surveying, property assessing, architectural work, database management, or programming.

    NOTE:
    Up to two (2) years full-time course credits at an accredited college or university in a related field of study may be substituted for up to two (2) years full-time experience.

  3. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of Country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.
  4. Pass the complete examination including the employment medical, established for this classification.
  5. Successfully complete the six month probationary period.

Special Requirements

Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.

USD $54,998.00 - USD $73,686.00 /Yr.
