General Summary

Responsible for formulating and supervising all duties performed in the Budget section of the Fiscal Services Division, which has primary responsibility for day-to-day development, management, and oversight of the County’s approximately $1.2 billion budget. Supervises staff assistance to departmental representatives in the preparation and administration of their budgets, recommends budget adjustments to County Executive Administration leadership, and oversees preparation of Countywide budget documents. Monitors County budget for departmental compliance with expenditure controls and external factors that affect the County’s financial position, including federal and state policy changes. Recommends improvements in County budget and operational systems, including implementation upgrades to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Provides fiscal expertise to administrators as requested at financial meetings. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Required Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicants must: 

 

1. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public Administration, Public Policy, Economics, Accounting, Political Science, or a related field of study.
 
2. Have five (5) years of full-time work experience in budget management, financial analysis, economic analysis, or related area, including one (1) year in a supervisory or leadership role.
 
NOTE: A Master's degree in one of the fields listed above may be substituted for one (1) year of the work experience described above.
