General Summary

Responsible for comprehensive case supervision for youth currently placed in residential programs, as well as to those who are currently residing in the community. The Reentry Specialist collaborates with youth, their families, and community stakeholders to achieve both short-and long-term goals, while continuously assessing strengths, barriers, needs, and potential risks factors. This role encompasses services aimed at reducing barriers, fostering successful relationships, and promoting adherence to community-based norms to reduce recidivism. Uses evidenced based assessments to develop individualized transition plans that address high/moderate risk areas, as well as promotes access to resources that fosters successful integration and community engagement. Maintains accurate records of client interactions, progress, and service outcomes. Prepares court reports and attends court hearings as necessary for assigned youth on caseload, providing updates on the youth’s progress as it pertains to their outlined transition plan. Stays informed about community resources, programs, and community-based initiatives to strengthen family support systems. Facilitates parent/guardian education groups and classes. Utilizes current countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Required Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, all applicants must:

  1. Must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field of study.

  2. Have had two (2) years of full-time work experience in counseling, casework or related work involving interviewing and investigative practices, procedures, and recommendations.

  3. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license.

Special Requirements

  1. Must maintain a valid United States driver’s or chauffeur’s license.

  2. Must submit to immunizations as requested by the Department of Health & Human Services and to periodic tuberculin skin tests or chest X-rays at County expense.

  3. Before beginning employment, candidates will be required to provide Children’s Village with documentation from the Michigan Department of Human Services that they have not been named in a central registry case as the perpetrator of child abuse or child neglect. In addition, applicants being considered for hire will be asked to sign a form authorizing Children’s Village to request and receive a criminal history check in accordance with the privacy act of 1974.

    Applicants for positions at Children’s Village will not be considered if they have been convicted of either of the following:
    1. Child Abuse or Neglect.
    2. A felony involving harm or threatened harm to an individual within the 10 years immediately preceding the date of hire.

Pay Range

USD $63,666.00 - USD $85,300.00 /Yr.
