General Summary

Responsible for performing more difficult and highly complex clerical support duties involving the processing of legal documents requiring extensive and current knowledge of legal procedures in the assigned area. Assists the public and attorneys with legal processes and procedures. Checks files and papers for accuracy and conformance to related laws, completeness and may sign for judge as authorized. Prepares and processes court documents required in arranging cases for hearing in court and in preparing court orders. Utilizes current countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Required Minimum Qualifications

1. Have regular Merit System status in the class of Juvenile Court Support Clerk or a higher class.

AND


2. Have had at least three (3) years of full-time work experience in the Circuit or Probate Court.

Special Requirements

1. Considerable knowledge of laws, rules, procedures, and practices.
2. Considerable knowledge of legal record keeping management and operations.
3. Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
4. Considerable skill in the use of the computer keyboard and software.
5. Considerable ability to perform legal clerical activities using personal computers.
6. Considerable ability to follow oral and written instructions.
7. Considerable ability to work successfully with attorneys and the public.
8. Considerable knowledge of and ability to utilize current word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and Internet software.
9. Reasonable tact in dealing with people.
