General Summary

The Groundskeeper Concrete/Hardscape Specialist maintains the grounds of the Oakland County Governmental Campus and Outbuildings. During the snow and ice management season, they will be assigned individual duties as determined by the Crew Chiefs. They must be available in the snow season to work different shift hours and on an on-call basis. Determines the skills required and estimates employee hours, materials, tools, and equipment necessary to accomplish the work; is expected to recognize occupational hazards associated with specific groundskeeping work assignments, and to exercise appropriate safety measures. Is responsible for recognizing and evaluating difficult and/or complex problems that arise during a project and for taking appropriate remedial actions. Is expected to attend educational seminars and continuing education. When not engaged in activities related to the specialty area, employees in this class perform lower-level groundskeeper duties. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Required Minimum Qualifications

At the time of applicant, applicants must:

 

1. Be a high school graduate; OR have completed the State requirements for a General Educational Development certificate.
 
2. Have three (3) years of full-time work experience in concrete forming, pouring, and finishing.
 
3. Must possess a Flatwork Finisher Certification from the Michigan Concrete Association
 
4. Possess a valid Commercial Driver's license Group “A” with no Air Brake restriction.
 
NOTE: Applicants without the required certification and/or CDL at the time of application must obtain it by the end of the six month probationary period, at the employer’s expense.
 
5. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
 
6. Successfully complete the six-month probationary period.

Special Requirements

1. Must maintain the following certifications from the Michigan Concrete Association Concrete Flatwork Finisher.
 
2. Must maintain a valid Possess a valid Commercial Driver's license Group "A" designation with no air brakes restriction.

Pay Range

USD $48,115.00 - USD $62,642.00 /Yr.
