General Summary

Under limited supervision serves as a Solution Area Planner (SAP) for regional homeland security efforts. Supports programs by planning, evaluation, and analysis of key elements in the areas of equipment acquisition, training, exercising, and planning for the County's Regional Homeland Security Strategy. Researches and provides data through the systematic planning, evaluation, and analysis of projects in bio-terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive) elements. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments

Required Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicants must:

  1. a. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Public Administration and/or closely related field;
    AND
    b. Have had at least two (2) years of full-time work experience as a first responder in one or more of the following disciplines: fire, public safety, emergency management or police.

    OR

  2. a. Possess an Associates degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Public Administration and/or closely related field;
    AND
    b. Have had at least four (4) years of full-time work experience as a first responder in one or more of the following disciplines: fire, public safety, emergency management or police.

    OR

  3. a. Must be a high school graduate, or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development Test;
    AND
    b. Have had at least six (6) years of full-time work experience as a first responder in one or more of the following disciplines: fire, public safety, emergency management or police.

  4. Possess a valid driver's or chauffeur’s license. Out of country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.
  5. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
  6. Successfully complete the six month probationary period.

Special Requirements

Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.

Pay Range

USD $52,378.00 - USD $70,177.00 /Yr.
